Getting to Porto

For most guests travelling from Ireland, the easiest option is to fly directly into Porto Airport (OPO). Ryanair flies direct from Dublin to Porto daily, with a flight time of around 2½ hours. Porto Airport is around 20–30 minutes from the city centre by taxi or Uber or Bolt.

Flying via Lisbon
If the Porto flights don’t suit, Lisbon is another option. Porto is just under a 2 hour 45 minute drive from Lisbon, with regular trains and buses connecting the two cities throughout the day. It’s also a good option if you fancy adding a night or two in Lisbon before or after the wedding.

Getting Around

Porto is compact and very walkable, although there are plenty of hills. Ubers and Bolt are cheap and plentiful, so they’re one of the easiest ways to get around the city — and particularly useful when you’ve had enough of walking uphill.

Wedding Day Transport

We’ll be organising transport from central Porto to Quinta Lago dos Cisnes and back again after the wedding.

Our recommended hotels below are all conveniently located near the wedding transport pickup point, so we suggest staying around the Aliados / São Bento / Baixa area if possible.

We’ll share the exact pickup location and timings closer to the wedding.

Where to Stay

We recommend making central Porto your base for the weekend. You’ll be able to explore most of the city on foot and will be close to the wedding transport on Friday.

You absolutely don’t have to stay in one of these hotels, but these are a few options we recommend.

  • PortoBay Teatro

    Central & convenient.

A stylish 4-star hotel right in the heart of Porto. PortoBay Teatro has a contemporary boutique feel and is brilliantly located for exploring the city, with São Bento, Aliados and Bolhão all close by.

It’s also very close to the wedding transport pickup, making it a particularly convenient base for Friday.

  • PortoBay Flores

    For something a little special.

The more luxurious of the two PortoBay options, PortoBay Flores is a 5-star hotel set partly within a beautiful historic building on Rua das Flores.

With a courtyard garden, spa and indoor pool, it’s a lovely option if you’re making a proper weekend of it, while still being within walking distance of the wedding transport.

  • The Social Hub

    The laid-back option.

A younger, more casual option and a good choice for groups of friends.

The Social Hub has a lively, contemporary feel with plenty of communal spaces, a bar and restaurant, plus a rooftop and pool. It’s somewhere you can actually hang out rather than just sleep, while still being very central.

  • The Editory Boulevard Aliados

    The stylish option.

A polished, design-led hotel right on Avenida dos Aliados.

The Editory has a more sophisticated boutique feel, with elegant interiors, a cocktail bar, terrace and small outdoor pool. A great option if you want somewhere smart and contemporary in the middle of the city.

  • One Shot Aliados Goldsmith

    The boutique option.

A smaller hotel just off Aliados with a more intimate, design-focused feel.

It’s extremely central, close to São Bento and surrounded by plenty of cafés, restaurants and bars. A good middle ground if you’re after somewhere stylish and low-key.

Staying Somewhere Else?

Absolutely.

Porto has loads of hotels and apartments at different price points. We’d just recommend looking around Aliados, São Bento or Baixa so you’re within easy reach of the wedding transport and well placed for the rest of the weekend.
